Last month, on Sept. 16, in the Center Moriches High School lobby, the following alumni were inducted into the Hall of Fame:

Albert “LaLa” Roth,” Class of 1962

Roth played soccer and basketball throughout his high school career. He also started as a varsity baseball pitcher in ninth grade and played throughout all four years. Professional teams for baseball scouted him in 1962-1970. He played for the local town teams and then went on to softball. In 1972, he coached Little League as the first one to pick a girl for his major league team. Historically, it was all boys who played for the major league. He coached until 1985 and then became an umpire for Little League. He also coached a CM MYO baseball team in 1994. He was the father of three, who all played sports and graduated from Center Moriches: Laura, Class of  ’84; Darlene, Class of ’85; and John, Class of ’95. He was known to support all varsity sports and he loved his high school.
