Sunflower Festival in full bloom at Waterdrinker

With a whole day’s worth of family activities, the Waterdrinker Family Farm’s Sunflower Festival has blossomed for the summer of 2022.

From the field of loaded sunflowers to the various photo-op set pieces sprinkled throughout, families, friends, and couples visit to make memories and capture Kodak moments. Photo opportunities begin before guests even enter the sunflower fields. The farm’s lavender display boasts the popular purple flowers and a pair of cars for set pieces.

“We are so excited to share the Sunflower Festival with the community,” Waterdrinker Family Farm manager Marc Weiss said in a statement. “This year we’ve added more activities for the whole family, and Long Island Farm Brewery is now in full swing with some more amazing beers on tap, including Sunny Honey Sunflower Ale, Summer Citrus and Golden Hour.

“We also have more photo spots this year, made by our very talented employees,” he continued. “As well as visiting the sunflowers, guests can play a round of mini golf and visit the barnyard animals, including our new bunny barn and Walter McDrinker’s Famous Chicken Coop.”

Among the other top photo spots are a tractor located among the play area, a pirate ship which crashed ashore amidst the sunflower field, and the classic “Waterdrinker” name spelled out in massive capital letters.

For the summer season, the farm is once again offering its Famous Kennedy Roasted Corn and fresh-squeezed lemonade. Weekend visitors can anticipate live music, a Mr. Softee ice-cream truck, and various food trucks parked on the property. Guests can enjoy their treats at the picnic tables across from the sunflower field.

Folks of all ages can also jump around on bouncy pads, and there’s plenty of playground equipment designed for little tikes.

“We have a brand-new fire truck playset and more wooden playhouses for the kids to enjoy,” Weiss said. “It’s great to see families enjoying all that the farm has to offer”
