Manorville land acquired

Brookhaven Town recently acquired 152 acres of vacant property in Manorville. The acquisition, according to councilman Dan Panico, came at no cost to the taxpayers. The property is contiguous to already preserved parcels, furthering the town’s efforts for land preservation in the area. “Since taking office, I have looked at creative ways and have been proactive to preserve land while keeping the taxpayers in mind. There is no need for everything to be plowed under and developed,” said Panico of the land acquisition.

The land is located in the area, which is in common ownership with the current development at the former Parr Meadows Race Track. All 152 acres are wooded and allow for the development of condo units on already cleared land and a planned development, which according to Panico, was already going to be built.

“By being proactive, working with owners and reaching out, we were able to again save a massive tract of property without costing the taxpayers the capital expenditure to purchase it for preservation,” he added.
