Grant awarded to brewery for renovations

PSEG Long Island recently awarded the Moriches Field Brewing Company an $18,500 economic development grant from its Main Street Revitalization Program for making renovations to its building.

The Center Moriches brewery opened in October 2020, adjacent to the Long Island Rail Road tracks. The building was previously a vacant baseball training facility, which qualified the brewery for a PSEG Long Island Vacant Space Revival Program discount. The discounts will save the owner more than $4,000 on his electric bills. Additionally, a $770 lighting rebate was awarded for replacing inefficient lighting fixtures in the building with LEDs.

“The money from PSEG Long Island made a huge difference to our business,” said Richard Flynn, founder/owner of Moriches Field Brewing Company. “Opening during a pandemic while waiting for all of the various permits for a new business was certainly trying. The grant money made it possible to more easily weather the early months while we invested in our building, equipment, people, and everything else necessary to operate a successful craft brewery.” 

The economic development grant was created to fund projects that improve economic stability and growth in local business districts.
