East Islip High School junior Vanessa Rossa recently passed U.S. Figure Skating’s Gold skating skills test, earning the prestigious honor of becoming a U.S. Figure Skating Gold Medalist. The skating skills test assesses a skater’s ability in several ways, helping athletes learn technique and control and judging their accuracy, posture and carriage, bilateral movement, strength, power, extension, edge quality, continuous flow, quickness and turn execution.
