Rock meets the blues in a concert the Patchogue Arts Council is presenting on April 28.
“Ladies Rock the Blues” will celebrate the music of female performers Bonnie Raitt, Sharon Jones, Susan Tedeschi, and the late Janis Joplin.
Their music will be performed by four local and regional vocalists, Amy Stahlin, Annie Mac, Cassandra House and Crystal Zagarello. The four will be joined by a band and other singers, including Katie Perlman and Pamela Betti.
The concert highlights the influence of the blues on rock music and showcases four female singers who became legends in what was then a mostly male-dominated rock music scene, said John Cino, programming director and senior curator for the Patchogue Arts Council, and along with Stahlin, one of the concert’s organizers.
The Patchogue Arts Council received a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts to present the concert.
