VFW Post 414 hosts Memorial Day parade

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 414 held their annual Memorial Day parade in Center Moriches on Monday, May 26.  The parade commenced at 9 a.m. at the King Kullen supermarket parking lot on Main Street and proceeded eastward to Mount Pleasant Cemetery.  Participants included local organizations such as the Center Moriches Fire Department, the Moriches Bay Garden Club, Raynor Country Day School, the Center Moriches High School band, the Chamber of Commerce of the Moriches, a Girl Scout troop, and East Moriches Volunteer Ambulance Company.  At the cemetery, a special ceremony was held to honor the veterans laid to rest there for their service to the United States of America.  The ceremony featured prayers, speeches from guest speakers such as Suffolk County executive Ed Romaine, and a gun salute.
