The widely popular T.O.A. Asian Fusion has taken over the former location of Ushin House in East Islip.
T.O.A., which stands for “taste of Asia,” offers a blend of flavors from across the continent, including Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese and Malaysian cuisine.
The opening of the East Islip restaurant marks the fifth T.O.A. Asian Fusion location. Since 2015, other locations have been successively opened in Huntington, Farmingdale, Sayville, and Melville.
166 W. Main Street is a two-story, freestanding building across from Brookwood Hall Park on the outskirts of East Islip and close to Islip hamlet. East Islip natives know the spot as the former home of the Beachtree Café, which was owned by the Bohlsen Restaurant Group for decades. H20 Seafood and Sushi, another Bohlsen establishment, replaced the Beachtree in 2016 before ultimately closing in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Most recently, Ushin House opened in late June of 2024, offering modern Japanese cuisine. In less than a year, Ushin House has closed and T.O.A. has taken its place.
So will T.O.A. Asian Fusion be able to stand the test of time? So far, all signs point to yes.
Since opening last month, the restaurant has been packed with guests eager to try a taste of Asia. While many local foodies had considered the predecessor’s prices to be exorbitant, T.O.A.’s moderate pricing has been praised by guests, who share that the cuisine is well worth the money.
With a wide array of options, from sushi to lo mein, and pad thai to filet mignon, T.O.A. has something for everyone. Head over to T.O.A. Asian Fusion in East Islip and try it for yourself, Monday to Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., Saturday 12:30 to 10:30 p.m. and Sunday 12:30 to 9:30 p.m.
