On April 14, the Rotary Club of the Moriches and Rotary District 7255 hosted the inaugural high school Interact Summit.
Attending were the schools’ Interact clubs from across Suffolk and Nassau counties. Each club was represented by the club members and their advisors.
Interact is one of the many clubs and programs sponsored by Rotary International.
Interact is a Rotary-sponsored nonprofit organization for young people aged 12 to 18 that focuses on leadership and international understanding.
Clubs are self-governing and self-supporting and must complete at least two service projects annually: one local and one international. The name combines “international” and “action.”
The club encourages its young members who want to connect with others in their community or school. Interact members have fun while carrying out service projects and learning about the world.
The day started at 9 a.m. with buses dropping the students at Camp PaQuaTuck here in Center Moriches. The day’s activities were coordinated by the Rotary Interact committee and Joe Beauchamp of Team Growth Solutions.
The day consisted of team building and leadership, then ended with the students from all over Long Island sharing ideas and making new friends and connections.
The Moriches Rotary Club has been a fixture in this community since 1946; that’s 80 years of serving and providing for our wonderful community.
The club meets the first and third Wednesday of every month.
Meetings are held at JC’s restaurant at Pine Hills in Manorville at 6:30 p.m. Please come join us for dinner and fellowship and learn about all of the ways you can help serve the terrific Moriches community.
