Snapper Derby held in memory

Posted

On a sunny Sunday, Brookhaven town officials and the Montauk Surfcasters Association hosted residents for the second annual Keith Romaine Memorial Snapper Derby, held at Union Avenue dock. The event was named in memory of Keith Romaine, the son of Brookhaven town supervisor Ed Romaine, who died in 2009. This year, participants were asked to make a $5 donation to the Joseph Rera Memorial Scholarship Fund, which was created on behalf of Joseph Rera, a 16-year-old Center Moriches High School student who died in November 2020.
