Pumpkin picking, hayrides and spooky corn mazes

Waterdrinker Family Farm fall festival now open

As pumpkin spice pervades the air, Waterdrinker Family Farm owner Marc Weiss welcomes guests to his pumpkin patch.

“We’re really excited about this year’s fall fest,” Weiss said. “Our employees really stepped up their game and made a bunch of new attractions and photo spots. Our pumpkin field is bigger than ever, our corn maze is spookier than ever.”

Among the farm’s most photogenic spots for the fall are the inflated great big pumpkin, an open wooden pumpkin house, and of course, the haunted corn maze, of which the entrance is lined with skeletons.

Waterdrinker Family Farm attracts families with young children and friends of all ages alike. Guests of all ages are invited to pick pumpkins, hop aboard a hayride, and play through a round of minigolf. To keep the adults in good spirits, the Long Island Farm Brewery is once again serving up its Pickin’ Pumpkins pumpkin beer.

“If you’re going to drink pumpkin beer anywhere, why not do it at a place where you’re coming to pick pumpkins?,” Brian Smith, the Long Island Farm Brewery’s brewmaster, said. “It’s made with a ton of real pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, real ginger, just a whole lot of festive flair.”

Waterdrinker Family Farm recently acquired a trio of sulcata tortoises, which reside in their own dinosaur discovery exhibit in the barnyard area. By September’s end, Weiss said visitors can expect more new attractions at the farm, including a Waterdrinker Express train ride he and his team will construct near the pumpkin house.
