Pat-Med Hall of Fame welcomes new members

Two well-known restaurateurs, a Broadway actor, and two of Patchogue-Medford’s greatest sports teams were honored recently with induction into the Patchogue-Medford Hall of Fame.

The hall held its seventh annual induction ceremony and dinner at Patchogue-Medford High School on May 3.

Here are the members of the Hall of Fame Class of 2024:

Scottie Campbell (Class of 1989) and Mark Miller, owners of Dublin Deck and Harbor Crab restaurants. Campbell and Miller are deeply involved in the Patchogue community, hosting countless fundraisers and other community events.

Jeri and Bill Clendennen, husband-and-wife educators and coaches. They also shared a love of animals and were wildlife rehabilitators.

Abigail Pastor Cotler (Class of 1973), a teacher, counselor and community organizer. She  served on the South Orange Maplewood (N.J.) Board of Education and worked tirelessly to assist victims of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.

John Harry Kellers (Class of 1942), a star pitcher on the Patchogue High School baseball team and decorated World War II veteran. He was part of the D-Day invasion at Normandy in 1944.

Derric Rossy (Class of 1998), a star football player at Pat-Med, who was awarded the Hansen Award as Long Island’s best football player. He was part of the Pat-Med teams that won back-to-back Long Island championships. Rossy played football at Boston College and turned to a career in boxing, winning numerous championships.

Nick Sanchez (Class of 1999), a musical theater star, who has performed in several Broadway productions and in the national touring company of “Hamilton.”

Patchogue-Medford Fathers’ Club (1974-2012), which raised money to help support Pat-Med’s athletic programs and scholarships.

1927-1932 girls varsity basketball team which, under coach Dora Ruland, won the Suffolk County championship in four of five seasons and was runner-up in 1930-31.

1988 varsity football team, led by head coach Robert Reifsnyder, which won the Suffolk County Big School championship over East Islip on a last-minute touchdown pass from Andy Scott to Eddie Montalvo.

In addition, Pat-Med High School student James Gerardi was awarded the Sean Patrick Dixon Raider Courage Award.
