St. Joseph’s University, New York (SJNY), recently announced that it was awarded $120,000 by the George I. Alden Trust for the purchase of smart technology equipment for the new student center on the Long Island campus.
“We’re so very grateful for the support of the George I. Alden Trust as we work towards the completion of the new student center,” said SJNY president Donald R. Boomgaarden, Ph.D. “These funds will be used to equip new classrooms with the latest emerging smart technology to ensure that our students receive a rich, impactful educational experience that will prepare them for personal and professional success throughout their lives.”
Funds from this grant will be used to equip the three academic classrooms and one computer lab located in the new student center with modern, flexible learning technology to meet the aspirations of the university’s community of scholars and learners. This technology will also enable faculty to deliver course material via lecture or collaborative learning teaching setup, ensuring that students will have access to the most appropriate academic environment.
Expanding on the first-class educational experience it delivers to its students, St. Joseph’s University is in the process of building a 32,000-square-foot student center at the heart of its Long Island campus in Patchogue. This new space, slated for completion in the summer of 2023, will become a central hub for student life and a home away from home for nearly 4,000 undergraduate and graduate learners. It will also feature spacious areas for faculty, staff, friends, and partners within the community to enjoy.
