MOTHER’S DAY FEATURE

Starting over again

Keri Greco (Halstead), mother of two and an East Patchogue resident, reached her darkest moment after being fired from her job as a general property manager in 2021.

“If anyone is going through a difficult time right now especially, hold on and keep climbing each day. I promise you the view is worth it when you look back at it all,” she said, reflecting on her own hard time.

At the time, she was pregnant with her second child, Jordan Greco, who is now 3. She and her husband Nick Greco also have a 4-year-old named Nicholas, and a stepdaughter (his daughter) Aria, 11.

“I found out we were expecting another incredible blessing after recently returning from maternity leave from having our first son,” she said. “This joyous moment was not shared by my long-term employer and I was terminated immediately following my disclosure to them.”

“My entire life crumbled around me; I felt completely worthless, blamed myself, became physically ill, went into a very dark place mentally where I struggled living every single day,” she added.

Luckily, and not long after, she snagged a job at Fairfield Properties as support to the executive staff on the residential management team, where she then worked her way up in three years getting two promotions.

Now, as of this March, she started as a co-leasing director.

“I want the world (or at least the immediate area) to know how awesome she is,” said her husband Nick, sharing her story. “Her promotion is a big deal as they are the largest landlord on Long Island.”

Keri attributes her success and ability to escape the hardship to her family and especially her husband, who never left her side.

“Over the years, I tightened my circle, closed off a lot of loose ends to get myself in a better place and focus on my new career and being the best mother, wife and daughter I can possibly be,” she said.
