Mexican food heats up a cold day

Posted

Despite the freezing temperatures (clocking in at 6 degrees at 10 a.m.), the Greater Sayville Chamber of Commerce was able to offer a warm welcome to Mexican grill Burrito Boulevard, in Oakdale, on Saturday, Feb. 4 at a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

With $2 specials all day, the line was out and down the block. The new restaurant features authentic Mexican dishes complete with a stunning backdrop of Día de Los Muertos murals throughout the space.

Co-owners Anthony “Tony” Vintis and Nicolo “Nic” Selini chose Oakdale after scouting a myriad of locations all across Suffolk County.

“It fit most of our checklist. We’ve found out, since we took over the space and been in the neighborhood since October, the community has welcomed us and been supportive of what we were doing,” said Vintis.

Vintis and Selini said they hope that the “vibe” of Burrito Boulevard will lend itself to a “fun” atmosphere, where “you can have Mexican street-style food and a frozen margarita or two.”

Chamber president Eileen Tyznar said, “This ribbon cutting was one of the warmest welcomes to a new business on one of the coldest days! Burrito Boulevard provided a ‘fiesta’ atmosphere with great food, music, and spirits all day long!”

She spoke of the immense excitement that the chamber had in welcoming an Oakdale restaurant into their organization and added, “[This will give] the community and train commuters as well, a place to eat authentic Mexican food and have a margarita to add to the cultural atmosphere! Bueno suerte!”
