On Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, there are a number of events planned across our readers’ areas, where those who paid the ultimate price for our collective freedom will be honored.

Here are the locations for those events.

Bayport

The Bayport Fire Department is having their annual ceremony at Memorial Park on Monday at 11a.m.  Bob Draffin, president of the Bayport Civic Association, is once again the M.C. for this event.

The parade will commence a couple of blocks west of the park on Middle Road and Connetquot Avenue.

A number of local organizations, including the Bayport-Blue Point Chamber of Commerce, will be laying wreaths at Memorial Park.

Bohemia

The Bohemia Fire Department and American Legion Post 1146 will be hosting its annual Memorial Day parade and services on Monday, May 27 at 10 a.m.  The parade starts on the corner of Hubal Street and Ocean Avenue, where it will proceed down to Church Street and onto the John Pearl School for a memorial service at the Veterans Memorial (corner of Church Street and Smithtown Avenue).  After the completion of the service and the placing of the community wreaths, the parade will proceed down to the Bohemia Fire Department for another service, where there will be a special tribute to all the veterans in attendance.

Blue Point

The Blue Point Fire Department will be hosting its annual Memorial Day parade and services on Monday, May 27 at 11 a.m. The parade starts on Blue Point Avenue and Middle Road. The parade will be immediately followed by a ceremony at the fire department monument just north of the firehouse on Blue Point Avenue.

Sayville

Sayville Fire Department is sponsoring the parade that begins at Handsome Avenue at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 27. The marchers, which include Boy Scouts, members of the Lt. Michael Murphy Sea Cadets, and members of the American Legion and VFW Posts, will proceed east on Main Street to Sparrow Park. At the park, a special ceremony and wreath laying will take place, sponsored by the American Legion Post 651.

West Sayville

The West Sayville Fire Department will march at a different point in the Sayville Fire Department with adult and junior members accompanying their apparatus, and at the end of the parade will return to their firehouse for a ceremony to honor veterans, where speeches will be given and wreaths from the fire department, junior fire department, local veterans, and Community Ambulance, among others will be laid.
