Long Island Game Farm ready for new season

Posted

The farm operators are currently working on putting their official schedule together, but have announced a reopening April 1 through 10 for spring break. The farm will be open to the public that week from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Throughout the winter, the farm is open by appointment only, and as of March will be open on weekends, weather dependent. Advance reservations include VIP tours, zookeeper tours, and pony experiences.

New this year, according to owner Melinda Novack, is a troop of three squirrel monkeys. However, because they like the warmer weather, they won’t be on display until May. Events will also be announced for April.

The Long Island Game Farm also been rehabilitating and rehoming exotic animals for over 50 years. As the largest combined children’s zoo and wildlife park on Long Island, The Long Island Game Farm offers a natural environment to learn about wildlife and animals through education and entertainment.

The game farm features hundreds of animals, including an 18-foot giraffe, wallabies, bison, Barbados sheep, peacocks, and the only lemurs born and bred on Long Island. Their animal collections include both exotic and indigenous breeds, with various breeds of buffalo, parrots, zebra, camels, emus, tortoises, and more.

The Long Island Game Farm is located at 489 Chapman Boulevard, Manorville, N.Y. For further information, please contact info@longislandgamefarm.com or call 631-878-6670.
