Giraffes worldwide are on the “Vulnerable” list—an even more important reason to celebrate Bobo’s first birthday at the Long Island Game Farm on Saturday, July 3rd, 2021 at 1:30 PM. After we all sing Happy Birthday to Bobo, he will enjoy his fave: “Lettuce Cake!” All Guests are welcome to the party with paid admission on that day (Rain date is Sunday, July 4th, 2021, 1:30 PM). Bring your cameras! Bobo has a newly-renovated house courtesy of sponsors: Rosann and Jim Naples of Eastbay Builders, Inc. in Center Moriches, NY. Eastbay also generously contributed the new Gift Shop as well. Two additional new sponsors this year include Symbiotic Landscaping (Tortoise Sanctuary) and New York Shed Company (new Comfort Station for baby changing and nursing mothers).
According to the IUCN, the world’s largest conservation organization, species of Giraffes are on the “Vulnerable” list because their populations are compromised because of habitat loss. “When visitors can get close to interesting and uncommon animals like Bobo,” said Owner Melinda Novak, “they often come away with a new appreciation for conservation and nature, even life in general.” The Long Island Game Farm has also been rehabilitating and re-homing exotic animals for over fifty years. “The bigheartedness of our sponsors really helps us do this necessary rescue and rehab work,” continued Novak. “Hosting safe, beautiful and state of the art exhibits are a win for the animals, and the many Guests who visit us each year who love to learn about our wild inhabitants here at the Game Farm… going into our 52nd year!”
In the spirit of sincerely caring for the over two-hundred animal inhabitants at the Game Farm, they are hosting a contest. Guests are invited to submit an answer to this question: What is YOUR wish for Bobo on his first birthday? These can be submitted via social media until 11:00 PM on Friday night, July 2. Three will be randomly chosen and will win a free encounter with Bobo! We will also read some of the entries at the birthday celebration on Saturday.
The Long Island Game Farm is open seven days a week and is located at 489 Chapman Blvd., Manorville, NY. For further information, please call firstname.lastname@example.org or 631-878-6670.
