Change in law about absentee voting

Posted

An important change regarding absentee voting will be in effect for the upcoming August primary as well as the November general election. Effective Jan. 1, 2022, an eligible voter may not cast a ballot on a machine at a poll site after the Board of Elections has sent a requested absentee ballot to the voter, regardless of whether the absentee ballot was delivered by the postal service or sent back to the board. The voter may still complete an affidavit ballot at the poll site.  The upcoming primary election will be on Aug. 23. Early voting will take place from Aug. 13 to Aug. 21.
