KEITH'S CORNER

Keith's Corner: An unwelcome visitor

Posted

Well, the threat of the coronavirus, has certainly slowed us all down. For the first time in 5 years, Helping Makes U Happy is helping in a "social distancing" type of way.

We've had to postpone collecting donations for our indoor yard sale, and the yard sale itself. We know a lot of people are home cleaning out and organizing because they've been calling us about the donations! While we are extremely grateful, we would ask that you hold your donations in a safe place until this is over. The same goes for donations to our annual Chinese Auction- normally we start collecting new items/ baskets/gift cards for that in June but this year it's a little uncertain whether we'll be able to do that.

So, anything you can put aside for us now will be so deeply appreciated because that event raises most of the money for the helping we do all year. We've started purchasing a gift card here and there as a way to show our support for the local businesses that are struggling right now. We've also donated to the "food share" and "bread share" options available on the nettiescountrybakery.com website. Not only can you order from a specific limited list of delicious Netties baked goods for your home, but the "share" options ensure that folks in need get bread and milk items.

We've been trying to help people referred to us and who are struggling through difficult life experiences with online gift cards and deliveries directly to them- this keeps us all safe during this time. It's certainly a different way of helping than what we are used to but it still feels good to do it.

We hope you all stay safe and well and that by the time of the next Keith's Corner, things are somewhat back to normal.
