On May 9, Suffolk County Legis. Dominick Thorne was joined By NYS Sen. Dean Murray at the Boys and Girls Club on Atlantic Avenue in Bellport for the second annual Give Back Day.
At this event, the Suffolk County services was in full attendance, such as social services, Department of Labor, Suffolk County police and Suffolk County sheriffs.
“This was part of my ongoing efforts to bring as many services as possible directly into that community,” Thorne said of understanding the hardship of having to travel for services without a car or during work hours. “This helps combat the need for transportation into various towns looking for services and held in the evening so persons looking for services would not need to lose a day’s pay to seek help.”
Also in attendance was Angels of Long Island, which brought a truck load of food and snacks to give to community members; and Serve all, from True North Church in Bohemia, who brought a large truck of new clothing and personal hygiene products.
Allied was in attendance and brought a large number of diapers to hand out. Also attending were Thursday’s Child, Gigi’s Playhouse, Fidelis-Care, NYU Langone (Brookhaven Hospital), NADAP and so much more.
