This morning the FBI Tampa Twitter account stated:  "The #FBI is executing a court-authorized search warrant today at the Laundrie residence in North Port, FL relevant to the Gabrielle “Gabby” Petito investigation. No further details can be provided since this is an active and ongoing investigation."

Yesterday, Sunday, September 19, a body consistent with missing 22-year-old Blue Point woman Gabby Petito was found in Wyoming.

North Port Police (Florida, where Petito lived for the past two years) confirmed on their Facebook account that the body found was  that of Gabby Petito and offered their condolences to the Schmidt and Petito families.

Brian Laundrie, Petito's boyfriend who had been traveling with her in her 2012 Ford Transit van this summer across the US, has been a "person of interest" in the initial disappearance of Petito that was announced by Suffolk County Police Department on September 11.

To date, Laundrie and family have chosen not to speak with authorities directly and instead have issued statements through their attorney.

On Friday, September 17, the Laundrie family told authorities that they had not seen Brian since Tuesday of that week.

A search was conducted in the nearby nature preserve where Laundrie was said to have gone hiking, but was called off this morning by North Port Police who said that they "had exhausted all avenues."
