In honor of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Judge Joseph Bianco visited Eastport-South Manor Junior-Senior High School to speak with seventh- and eighth-grade students.
Bianco, who served as a judge on the Second U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, spoke to students about the structure of the court system, how judges are appointed and the importance of judicial independence. He also discussed the principles outlined in the Declaration of Independence and explained the various roles and responsibilities within a courtroom.
In addition, Bianco shared his personal career journey, including time at Georgetown University, Columbia Law School, as a terrorism prosecutor, his time as chief of the Organized Crime and Terrorism Unit.
He concluded by encouraging students to pursue their goals, emphasizing that anything is possible when you put your mind to it.
