Eastport-South Manor girls varsity flag football is having an outstanding spring 2025 season. The ESM Sharks have soared towards the top of the standings in Suffolk County League II, captivating most of their opponents.
Head coach Guy Buckley, in his first year at the helm, has steered his squad to success with offensive stars, such as quarterback Alexandra DaEira-Loccisano, one of the best signal callers on the island; and one of the league-leading wide receivers in Suffolk County, Jenna Vormittag, along with a rugged defensive group such as free safety Kate Keesee and linebacker Ally Justesen.
In the opener on March 28, the Sharks crunched the Wyandanch Warriors, 25-7, then a few days later shut out Deer Park 6-0 at home. ESM outlasted West Babylon 14-13 on April 3, and the following day devoured East Hampton, dominating 39-13.
The following week, the Sharks feasted on the Center Moriches Red Devils, winning 19-7 on the road, then scoffed down Smithtown Christian 42-22, then downed Harborfields 18-6. Eastport-South Manor faced Kings Park, then played Riverhead Charter, East Islip, West Islip, and Rocky Point to round out the month of April.
This month, the Sharks will face Sayville, Hauppauge and Amityville on May 8 on Senior Night, then the regular season concludes on May 10 vs Elwood-John Glenn.
