Eastport-South Manor varsity football had an admirable 2024 season, resulting in fall 2024 playoff contention.

The Eastport-South Manor Sharks finished the regular season in Suffolk County Division III with a 3-5 record.

Quarterback Max Ferraro led his team to a No. 8 seed in their 2024 campaign. It was the inaugural season of the new head coach Guy Buckley, whose initial ambition was to get the squad back to the postseason after last making a playoff appearance in 2018.

His goal was to make the postseason, and they did just that as he revamped the program, giving optimism and momentum likely to carry into next year.

The Sharks started the season at the Rocky Point Eagles on Sept. 14 and lost the opener by a sliver, 13-12. The following week, they fell to Half Hollow Hills West, 49-12.

ESM soaked in their homecoming parade to enjoy a 21-12 victory over the Harborfields Tornadoes, then dominated the Amityville Warriors 34-9 on Saturday, Oct. 5. ESM then fell to Hauppauge the following Thursday afternoon, 35-20.

The Sharks rebounded on a trip to the North Shore, edging the Kings Park Kingsmen on the road 23-20 on the 19th.

ESM lost their final two meetings of the regular season at home, 54-10, to Sayville, then 42-7 on the road vs. East Hampton-Bridgehampton-Pierson.

The Sharks traveled to Sayville for the first round of the Suffolk County football playoffs and fell 59-13 to the Golden Flashes.
