Eagle soars at ceremony

BSA Troop 29 welcomed David Garcia to the ranks of Eagle Scouts in a ceremony in August, even though he officially became one in March of 2020. The coronavirus pandemic delayed the celebration until indoor activities could resume following the arrival of a vaccine.  The well-attended ceremony was held at Saint Jude’s Catholic Church.  David has attended and served at Saint Jude’s for many years.  David completed his Eagle project at Saint Jude’s as well. The Stations of the Cross from the church were refurbished, encased, and posted in the contemplative garden next to the church.  The success of the project was a culmination of David’s time with Troop 29, where David assisted the troop in many roles over the years, including assistant senior patrol leader and senior patrol leader.  David achieved several merit badges as a scout and attended three of the Boy Scouts High-Adventure bases: Summit Bechtel Reserve, Philmont Scout Ranch, and recently Sea Base in Saint Thomas.  David has had an illustrious career with Troop 29.  His ceremony was marked with joy, happiness, and a touch of nostalgia as memories of the years and events of the past filled the hall.  Congratulations, David.
