The Moriches annual Memorial Day parade will take place on Main Street for a solemn remembrance. Veterans are asked to come and march, joining other organizations honoring all brothers and sisters who proudly served and have passed.
The parade will take place on May 30 at 9 a.m., with lineup at 8 a.m., starting at Lake Avenue and Main Street. The parade will proceed east along Main to Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. A ceremony will then be held.
“Memorial Day is a special day,” said Center Moriches VFW Post 414 commander Bobby Galbraith. “It’s a day to remember and honor all those who served and have now passed away. We honor them with this special ceremony so they’ll never, ever be forgotten.”
The VFW Post 414 is also hosting a food drive on Saturday, May 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the post located on 437 Main Street in Center Moriches. Donations can be dropped off early at the post any Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Times for early drop are 4-7 p.m. For more information call 631-878-4908.
