Suffolk County police charged a Blue Point man with possessing child pornography and promoting a sexual performance of a child on June 9.
Following a tip from the New York State Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Suffolk County Police Digital Forensics Unit detectives investigated Michael Chiarelli and executed a search warrant at his home, located at 186 Division Avenue, at 8:50 a.m.The police said pornographic images depicting children were found on electronic devices.
Chiarelli, 25, was charged with promoting a sexual performance by a child and possessing a sexual performance by a child under 16, both felonies. Police said Chiarelli was held overnight at the Fifth Precinct and was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on June 10.
