Beach cleanup!

Posted

The summer crowds have left plenty of trash behind at the local beaches. Knowing this, members of Passport Rotary gathered at Smith Point Saturday, Oct. 8, to help keep the beaches clean. With bags, baskets and gloves in hand, the volunteers collected trash from the Flight 800 Memorial all the way to the water’s edge. Passport Rotary is a service organization spanning from Brooklyn to Montauk with several members hailing from the Moriches area. Their next service project will be a food drive on Nov. 12 at Stop & Shop in Shirley. Supplies gathered will be given to Neighbors Being Human Food Pantry as well as distributed to “nomadic” working families living in campsites in Suffolk County.
