An exciting new school year

Hope Fuhrmann is excited to be starting kindergarten at Brookhaven Elementary School. She is most looking forward to learning Spanish in the dual-language program.

Friends Cole Catalano and Elasade Gowins are elated to be starting first grade at Verne W. Critz Elementary. Cole is most looking forward to recess, where he gets to play with friends such as Elasade, while she is looking forward to making new memories with her teacher and friends.

Leo Cillo is happy to be starting kindergarten at Kreamer Street Elementary.

Cole Catalano is planning ahead as part of the future graduating Class of 2034!

Aaron Balkaran is excited for his first day of seventh grade at Bellport Middle School. He is looking forward to vacation, as well as to seeing old friends and making new ones this year.

Luca Cillo is glad to be starting fourth grade at Frank P. Long Intermediate.

Siblings Madison and Jake Aruta are excited to be entering Bellport High School in ninth and 11th grade, respectively. Both are looking forward to having a great school year while making connections with friends and teachers and growing academically.

Students returned to class in the South Country School District on Tuesday, Sept. 6. To commemorate this annual rite of passage, we asked members of the district to send in their best back-to-school photos and to share what they are most looking forward to during the upcoming school year.
