Earlier today there was an accident involving a food service truck that took down about one utility pole on Terry Street in Patchogue Village. According to the SCPD, the call came in at 11:51 a.m. The truck took down poles and wires, however, no one was injured.

The accident did result in a downtown power outage to multiple businesses, mostly on the south side, between Whiskey Neat and Bobbique. According to the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce South Ocean Avenue also had some loss of power. Village DPW and public safety were on the scene.

According to PSEGLI, they received reports of the outage, reportedly caused by a truck catching lower-hanging cable or telephone wires and breaking off a utility pole. The incident resulted in about 200 customers losing power. The vast majority were restored in about two hours. A crew is on site now to install a new pole and will work safely and as quickly as possible to restore approximately 20 customers still affected.
