DECEMBER
The Festival of Lights at the Center Moriches Jewish Center was featured on front page. Also, Waterdrinker Family Farms detailed how they undergo a holiday transformation for their Winter Wonderland, and the Brookhaven Town Animal Shelter received an early gift from the CM second grader who held raised funds.
NOVEMBER
Pete Jepson was named the Veterans Day grand marshal, farmer Matt Gartelman was honored by the LI Farm Bureau, the Friends of the CM Library hosted a jewelry sale and Santa visited the Long Island Game Farm.
OCTOBER
Webby’s Beach got a little library courtesy of an Eagle Scout, construction began on the new CM Library parking lot, Paws of War visited Camp Paquatuck, and the East Moriches Coast Guard Station closed.
SEPTEMBER
Camp Good Grief was held at Camp Pa Qua Tuck and the Center Moriches Superintent resigned. Also, the Great Gun Anglers were featured for their annual Take a Vet Fishing Trip.
AUGUST
Pickleballers celebrated new courts at the Moriches Athletic Complex, ESM and CM graduates were featured and lavender festivals were aplenty.
JULY
A new playground was installed for the sight impaired at Smith Point County Park, Kathleen Johnson was remembered with a fundraiser, parcels were preserved for open space, and rental apartments were proposed for East Moriches.
JUNE
CM and ESM announced their top of the class, the chamber brought back their concert series, and the annual Mother’s Day tea was held at the Presbyterian Church.
MAY
The United Methodist Church held a cemetery dedication ceremony, summer camps were announced the LI Game Farm, and councilwoman Karen Dunne Kesnig talked about her first 100 days in office.
APRIL
Waterdrinker’s tulip festival was a beautiful front page, boats were dumped in Manorville and met with fines, and the Moriches Bay Garden Club prepped for a new season.
MARCH
Snow fall was featured on the front page, George Keller was named this year’s St. Patrick’s Day grand marshal, CM Library brought back their seed library and ESM baseball got a revamped ballpark.
FEBRUARY
The Center Moriches School District presented a revised bond proposal, Matt the Farmer talked about his Center Moriches farm, the CM Library announced plans for a parking lot expansion and school feared losing state funding.
JANUARY
The Moriches Bay Project was given our Inspiration Award, the Friends of the Library held a book sale, an ESM grad was drafted to the NFL, and the town honored the Center Moriches volleyball team.
