MORICHES bay garden club

A visit to the Bridge Gardens

Posted

On June 11, the Moriches Bay Garden Club met at Bridge Gardens located in Bridgehampton.  The 5-acre gardens were donated to Peconic Land Trust in 2008 by Jim Kilpatric and Harry Neyens.

Rick, the garden director, took us on a tour of the beautiful gardens.  He was assisted by Matt and Erin.  There was so much to see.  There were hedgerows, native and non-native perennials, annuals, shrubs, and trees.  They also have a vegetable garden, rose garden, and an herb garden.

Bridge Gardens also hosts a variety of classes on the arts, conversations with local growers and gardening experts, music performances, children’s programming, and more.  It was definitely worth the trip east!

Our July meeting will be on Thursday, July 16 at FINS at Smith Point County Park, at 1 p.m.

Our annual fundraiser luncheon will be on Sept. 17, at Rock Hill Golf and Country Club.  Our speaker will be Alex Calamia from News 12.  Watch for more information about how to attend the luncheon.

We are always looking for new members to join our club. To attend our next meeting or for more information about our luncheon, contact Patti, the president of the garden club, at 631 838-6656 or beachbaby4894@gmail.com.
