KEITH'S CORNER

Keith's Corner: Spring has sprung!

Posted

We always look forward to May and Memorial Day—it gives us a chance to remember and honor members of the military who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms. We also get to honor those very special people in our lives—our Moms!

This year, Helping Makes U Happy will be selling bright-yellow smile mugs filled with delicious Nettie's cookies for Mother's Day. The proceeds from this sale will be donated to a special kindness award honoring the memory of recently departed Clayton Huey principal, Kim Hardwick. Everyone who knew Kim remembers her huge smile, so this is a perfect remembrance and a way to keep promoting kindness.

Only 36 mugs will be sold, so put your request in early!

On Sunday, May 19 (rain date May 26), we will be supporting the CMPTA's first annual festival and car show from noon to 5 p.m. on the grounds of the high school.  We will also be selling tie-dyed HMUH shirts in patriotic colors. Come on down—it’s going to be an awesome event!

Our projects for this month are finishing our comfort cases for Suffolk County, and- to say thank you—collecting and filling bags with goodies for the 100 veterans who utilize the Veterans Food Pantry in Yaphank every month.

On Memorial Day, May 27, we will also once again be preparing and serving our annual complimentary breakfast to veterans and military personnel at the CM VFW Post 414. Breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m. If you are interested in volunteering for a project or the breakfast, or if you are a veteran or military personnel (your families are welcome also) who would like to attend the breakfast, please email us at helpingmakesuhappy@gmail.com.

Please join us outside after breakfast for the Memorial Day parade down Main Street!
