Keith’s Corner: Our favorite month is here!

October is our favorite month at Helping Makes U Happy!  

Our highly anticipated annual Chinese auction will be held on Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Center Moriches High School gym. This is our major fundraiser of the year! Doors open at 4 p.m., prizes called at 6:30 p.m. There will be delicious food for purchase from Chubs Meats, music by NYU Entertainment, and seating by Kanopy King.

Speaking of helping... Suffolk Federal Credit Union will be holding food collections for Helping Makes U Happy in all 10 of their branches the entire month of October.  Not only will this help us feed families over the holidays, but it will help our local food pantries as well. We are so thankful! Please stop in to any branch with a non-perishable donation.  

On Oct. 20, help local families affected by cancer by attending Stepping Stone Support's Manikur For a Cure at Manikur in Speonk. 

There are also lots of fun and spooky things going on this month, which raise money to help others, and we do what we can to support them as well. Camp Paquatuck's Spooky Walk takes place from 7-9 p.m. on Oct. 18, 19, 25 and 26 and raises funds for the camp. Max's Haunted House takes place at 9 Hampton Drive, Center Moriches, Oct. 25, 26 and 31, and raises funds for Spirit of Children. And there's also a Haunted Food Drive at 61 Parkwood Drive, Mastic Beach, from 6-10 p.m. on Oct. 18,19, 25, 26 and 31, which benefits Christmas Magic.

Finally, we hope to see many of you at the March of Goblins when they close down Main Street, Center Moriches, again on Halloween. Stop by our table for some Halloween treats, teal pumpkin treats, and doggie treats... and say happy birthday to Keith!
