Posted

Celebrating Women’s History Month, local women will perform original acoustic works and some familiar tunes in a listening setting. Performing will be: Delaney Hafener, Sarah Lewis, Rorie Kelly, Julia King, Gail Storm and Inda Eaton.

A portion of the proceeds are donated to Moriches Community Center, and a 50/50 raffle will be held to benefit Long Island Cares: The Harry Chapin Food Bank.

The event will be at the Moriches Community Center, 313 Frowein Road, Center Moriches, on March 22 from 2 to 5p.m. A $15 donation will be accepted at the door or online at morichescommunitycenter.org/events/folkie-fest/.

Folkie Fest is an informal organizer of small listening events highlighting local singer songwriters and supporting local 501(c)3 organizations such as the Moriches Community Center and Long Island Cares: The Harry Chapin Food Bank in the spirit of folk music as defined by Pete Seeger.

The event is a monthly program at MCC, and February’s celebrated the 80th anniversary of “This Land is Your Land.” The program offers musical performances by local artists in a relaxed setting.
